Tamara Clarke is an American expat and former software developer based in Abu Dhabi, where she lives with her husband and two sons. Tamara arrived in the UAE in 2012 with no clear career plan but soon found her stride writing about technology. She currently works as a journalist and she is also a columnist for Entrepreneur Middle East Magazine, where she writes an eponymous monthly consumer tech column called, #TamTalksTech.
As a technology professional and parent, Tamara knows firsthand the challenges that come with managing young children and personal electronic devices. In March 2019, Tamara published her first children’s book, The Super Surfer, a picture book about Internet safety, in collaboration with Cisco Middle East as part of its CSR initiatives. She actively campaigns to keep kids safe online through activations and school readings and she hopes that The Super Surfer will become the ultimate conversation starter for parents who want to tackle the tough subject of Internet safety with their young children.
Tamara is also a contributor to The Possibilities Project, a young person’s guide to career success, which was launched during the 2020 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. Her chapter, Dominating Digital, gives teens tips and best practices to play safe and make the most of their online experience.
In addition to her literary contributions, Tamara is often sought as a resource by national media outlets including Dubai Eye 108.3, Virgin Radio DXB, Time Out Kids and The National.
